Dartmouth Defeats Bears, 51-48, in Season Finale

Providence, RI - In the final game of her career, Annesley O'Neal (Franklin, GA) led the Brown women's basketball team with 16 points and five rebounds during its 51-48 loss to Dartmouth College on Saturday night.
Brown's Christina Johnson made a lay-up at the 10-minute mark to give Bruno a13-9 lead. But a jumper by Louise Vanden Botch and two free-throws by Kristen Craft tied the game up with 8:14 left in the half.
The Bears then gained a four-point lead, but two free-throws by Dartmouth put the Big Green back up by three with four minutes remaining in the first stanza. A jump shot on the right side by Sadiea Williams (Lunenburg, MA) and a trey by O'Neal gave Bruno another lead, 22-20, at the 3:31 mark, but Dartmouth answered back with a 7-2 run to head into halftime with a 27-24 lead.
Natalie Bonds (Tavares, FL) scored back-to-back buckets and O'Neal hit a three to tie the game at 31-31 with 14:40 remaining in the game. The Big Green held a 38-34 advantage over the Bears at the 6:20 mark, but Williams made a tough jump shot over two big Dartmouth defenders to bring back Bruno within two.
With the hot hands of Koren Schram, who scored all of her 11 points in the second half, the Big Green brought its lead back up to seven with 2:05 remaining in the game. O'Neal sank her fourth trey of the night to put the score at 45-41 with 57 seconds left on the clock. A free-throw by Dartmouth's Sydney Scott put the lead back to six, but Williams sank two of her own to bring it back to four with just 40 seconds left.
Bonds came up big for the Bears, grabbing a rebound and putting it right back up and in to put the score at 48-45 with 20 seconds left. Dartmouth's Brittney Smith put in two free-throws, and Ann O'Neal added one for the Bears to make the score 49-46 with 11 seconds left. The Big Green converted two more free-throws, and Bonds answered with a lay-up, to end the game in Dartmouth's favor, 51-48.
O'Neal finished with 16 points and five rebounds, as Bonds tallied her first career double-double with 10 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Sophomore Courtney Lee (Archer, FL) handed out six assists, as O'Neal picked up four steals.
Dartmouth was led by Brittney Smith's 12 points and nine rebounds, and Koren Schram's 11 points and two rebounds.
