The Brown University Women's Basketball team remains undefeated at home in the Ivy League as they defeated the Dartmouth Big Green 64-54. This was the second meeting between the two teams who were tied for second place in the League. In the first meeting Dartmouth defeated Brown 74-68.
Brown lost the lead at the 17:19 mark in the first half only to regain it less than a minute later at 16:30 and hold onto it for the rest of the game. The Big green brought the game to within four with 3:05 left in the game, but went scoreless the rest of the contest to fall by ten.
Brown was led by junior Nyema Mitchell (Birmingham, AL) and freshman Sarah Hayes (Beaufort, SC) who both recorded 16 points. Hayes led the team in rebounds with seven as Mitchell pulled down four. Freshman Colleen Kelly (Rochester, NY) netted 12 points, dished out four assists and grabbed four steals to help the Bears gain their ninth Ivy league win.
Junior Tanara Golston (Skokie, IL) and sophomore Holly Robertson (Cochrane, Alberta) both accumulated eight points as freshman Ashley Van Kurin (Yorba Linda, CA) added four. Golston led the team in assists dishing out eight.
The Bears will play in their final game of the season tomorrow as they host the Harvard Crimson. Harvard is currently undefeated and stands alone in first place in the Ivy League. Tip-off is at 7:00 p.m. in the Pizzitola Gymnasium.
Come cheer the Bears on as Brown tries to break the attendance record at the Pizzitola Gymnasium, which was set back in 1991 against Harvard when the gyn was packed with over 1,800 fans. Ticket prices for the game have been set at $1.
