Hanover, NH - Sophomore Shae Fitzpatrick (Lynnfield, MA) led the Brown women's basketball team with 15 points during the Bears' 61-49 loss to Dartmouth on Friday evening at Leede Arena. Brown dropped to 1-18 (0-5 Ivy), while the Big Green improved its record to 7-12 (4-1 Ivy).
Fitzpatrick sparked the Bears in the first half, scoring her team's first seven points to bring the Bears within one of the Big Green just five minutes into the game. But Dartmouth then gained as much as a 12-point lead with the help of Koren Schram's 14 points and Brittney Smith's nine rebounds. Fitzpatrick hit a jumper at the buzzer to cut the Bears' deficit to 34-24 at the half.
Dartmouth quickly built up the score in the second half, jumping out to an 18-point lead at the 16 minute mark. Two jumpers by Fitzpatrick and one by freshman Sadiea Williams (Lunenburg, MA) brought Brown within 12, but that was as close as they would come, losing 61-49.
Fitzpatrick led the scoring with 15 points and senior Annesley O'Neal (Franklin, GA) added 11 points and pulled down six rebounds. Williams had a team-high seven rebounds and sophomore Courtney Lee (Archer, FL) dished out three assists.
