Women's Basketball Downs Yale 73-57 for First Ivy League Win

PROVIDENCE, RI - Senior Rada Pavichevich (Norwood Park, IL) scored a career-high 24 points on 7 of 13 shooting to lead the Brown women's basketball team to a 73-57 victory over Yale at the Pizzitola Sports Center on Saturday.
The win, Brown's first in Ivy League play this season, came on the heels of a 79-60 loss to the Bulldogs last Saturday in New Haven, CT.
Sophomore Nyema Mitchell (Birmingham, AL) had a strong inside game for the Bears with 10 points, eight rebounds and two blocks. Freshman center Holly Robertson (Cochrane, Alberta) added eight points and six rebounds to solidify Brown's inside presence.
Brown (4-13, 1-3 Ivy) shot a blistering 22 of 29 from the foul line, and forced Yale (9-8, 2-2 Ivy) into committing 31 turnovers with an intense defensive effort.
The Bears shot 42 percent from the field in the first half on 14 of 33 shooting to jump out to a commanding 39-19 lead at halftime.
In the first seven minutes of the second half, the Bulldogs raced out on a 19-4 run to pull within 11 points of the Bears at 49-38 with 12:30 remaining. Yale came within eight points of Brown at 63-55 with 2:58 left to go, but the Bears would pull away with some key foul shooting down the stretch.
Next up for the Bears will be Harvard and Dartmouth on Friday and Saturday February 1-2 at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Both games will tip at 7:00 p.m.
