Providence, RI - In a well-rounded effort, the Brown women's basketball team scored a season-high 72 points to earn a 16-point victory over Yale on Saturday afternoon. The win marked the Bears seventh straight over the Bulldogs as they improve to 10-5 overall and 2-0 in the Ivy League. Brown committed a season-low 11 turnovers compared to Yale's 26, as the Bears tallied a season-high 18 steals in the game. Nine different players scored, led by senior Holly Robertson and junior Sarah Hayes' 16 each.
Brown built up a ten point lead, 20-10, with 9:05 left to play. By the 2:36 mark, the Bears were up by 21, reminiscent of last weekend's game against the Bulldogs. Yale dropped it down to 15 heading into the locker room as Brown scored a season-high 40 points in the half.
Hayes led all players with 12 points while senior Andrea Conrad added seven. In all, eight players got on the score sheet. The Bears recorded 12 steals, committing just six turnovers to Yale's 16.
In the second half Brown went up by as many as 26, cruising to its 10th victory of the season. Sophomore Katie Barr scored a career-high eight points on 3-4 shooting, including 2-2 from downtown. Sophomore Ashley King-Bischof tied her career-high of eight points on 3-5 shooting, knocking down 2 of Brown's seven three's on the afternoon.
Hayes moved into the top-ten of Brown's all-time steals leaders list with the 161st steal of her career in today's win.
Brown will continue Ivy play at home next weekend as it hosts Princeton and Penn on Friday and Saturday night respectively. Both games are slated to begin at 7 p.m.
