NEW HAVEN, CT -- The Brown women's basketball team dropped a 79-60 decision to the Yale Bulldogs at the John J. Lee Amphitheater on Saturday.
Senior Rada Pavichevich (Norwood Park, IL) tied a career-high with 23 points, nine rebounds and three assists to lead Brown (3-13, 0-3 Ivy). Pavichevich was 10 of 15 from the floor on the afternoon. Saturday's game marked the third time in her career that Pavichevich has reached 23 points in a game.
Senior Erin-Kate Barton (Portland, OR) had a double-double for the Bears with 10 points and 10 rebounds. All of Barton's points came in the second half, which gave the Bears a late boost. Sophomore Nyema Mitchell (Birmingham, AL) also added nine points, nine rebounds and four blocks for Brown.
The game was knotted 21-21 with 7:50 remaining in the first half, but the Bulldogs went on a 17-8 run over the next six minutes to take a 38-29 lead at the break.
Pavichevich led the Bears in the first half with 15 points on six of 11 shooting from the floor.
In the second half, Brown pulled within seven points of the Elis at 58-51 when Pavichevich converted a layup with 7:58 remaining. Yale responded with a 9-0 run over the next three minutes to put the game away.
The Bears will host the Bulldogs (9-7, 2-1 Ivy) next Saturday, January 26 at the Pizzitola Sports Center in a 2:00 p.m. game.
