Bears Defeat Yale 84-77

The Brown University Women's Basketball team defeated the Yale Bulldogs 84-77 for the first league win of the season. The Bears improved their record to 500 as they now stand at 7-7 overall.

Two different Bear players recorded double doubles in junior Tanara Golston (Skoikie, IL) who accumulated ten assists and netted 18 points, leading Brown in points. Also recording a double double was freshman Sarah Hayes (Beaufort, SC) with 15 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.

Also scoring in double digits for the Bears was freshman Colleen Kelly (Rochester, NY) with 16 points. Junior Nyema Mitchell (Birmingham, AL) and freshman Jackie Vocell (Atkinson, NH) both netted nine points. Vocell was three for four from behind the three point arc.

Freshman Ashley Van Kurin (Yorba Linda, CA) added eight points for the Bears as sophomore Holly Robertson (Cochrane, Alberta) and junior Miranda Craigwell combined for nine points, including a three pointer by center Robertson.

The Bears will host Yale this weekend Saturday January, 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pizzitola Gymnasium as they continue Ivy League action.
