Head Coach Jean Marie Burr Records 200th Career WIn

Head Coach Jean Marie Burr records her 200th career win as a head coach as the Brown University Bears defeat the Iona College Gales 66-41. Burr's record as a head coach now stands at 200-183 throughout her tenure, all coming while at Brown University.

The Bears were led by junior Tanara Golston (Skoikie, IL) who netted 20 points and recorded eight assists in the win. Golston went in to the locker room with 10 points and six assists at halftime with the Bears up by 23, 36-13. Iona came out strong in the second half, but could not catch up to the fast tempo of the Brown Bears.

Also scoring in double digits for the Bears was freshman Colleen Kelly (Rochester, NY) who accumulated 11 points and pulled down four boards. Freshman Sarah Hayes (Beaufort, SC) added 12 points and four steals.

Junior Nyema Mitchell led the Bears in boards pulling down eight defensive boards, 11 total. Mitchell also recorded eight points and three blocked shots.

The Bears will start Ivy League action this Saturday, January 18 at 3:00 p.m. at Yale.
