Brown Suffers 98-22 loss to George Washington

Washington, D.C. - The No. 19 ranked George Washington Colonials (12-3) defeated the Brown women's basketball team (1-13), 98-22, on Sunday afternoon at the Smith Center. Leading the Bears was senior Annesley O'Neal (Franklin, GA) with seven points.

The nationally ranked George Washington team came out hot, shooting 67 percent from the field in the first stanza to gain a 51-11 lead heading into halftime. The Colonials jumped out to a 23-0 lead, but sophomore Ashley Alexander (Houston, TX) broke the Bears' silence with lay-up at the 11:42 mark. Freshman guard Sadiea Williams (Lunenburg, MA) added a jumper from the corner as O'Neal went on to score Brown's next seven points to head into the locker room at the half.

The Colonials shot 67 percent from the field in the second half, increasing its lead to 85-19 with 5:55 left in the game. Contributing to Brown's scoring was sophomore Natalie Bonds (Tavares, FL), sophomore Shae Fitzpatrick (Lynnfield, MA), Williams, and freshman Alyssa Blood (London, England).

O'Neal finished with seven points, as Fitzpatrick and Williams both added four. Fitzpatrick also had a team-high four rebounds. The Colonials had five players in double-digit scoring, as Whitney Allen led the way with 16 points, followed by Antelia Parrish with 15, and Jessica Adair with 13.
