Lauren Clarke and Sheila Dixon Earn All-Ivy Honors

PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND – Two members of the Brown women's basketball team (9-19, 3-11 Ivy League) have been named to the 2013 All-Ivy Basketball Team in a vote by the Ivy League's eight head coaches. Junior Lauren Clarke (Colts Neck, NJ) received second team All-Ivy honors, while senior tri-captain Sheila Dixon (Schenectady, NY) was named honorable mention All-Ivy.

Clarke ranked sixth in the league in scoring with a team-high 13.5 points per game. She led the Bears in scoring in 14 of their 28 games, scoring 20 points on five separate occasions, including back-to-back home contests against Dartmouth and Harvard. Her 2.8 assists per game and .793 free throw percentage were both team-highs, ranking her sixth in the league in both categories. The league's leading three-point shooter, Clarke sank 2.2 per game, and she ranked ninth in steals with 1.5 per game. She also led the league in minutes played this year, averaging 36.2 minutes per game as Brown's primary ball handler.

Dixon is a three-time All-Ivy selection, as she earned second team honors as a sophomore and junior. A formidable presence on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court, she ranked second on the team and 10th in the league in scoring with 12.7 points per game. She led the Bears in rebounding, pulling down an average of five per game, and ranked sixth in the league in defensive rebounds. Dixon also ranked 10th in the league in steals with 1.5 per game, while her 2.3 assists per game place her 11th. She became the 16th Brown women's basketball player to reach the 1,000 point milestone on February 23, 2013, and her 1,070 career points makes her the 13th highest scorer in the program's history.
