Providence, R.I. – Brown University's women's basketball team (2-3) will host the Bryant Bulldogs (0-4) on Wednesday, Nov. 28, in the Pizzitola Sports Center at 6 p.m. for the second home game of the 2012-13 season.
The Bears are coming off a 58-57 loss to the University of Pittsburgh at the Peterson Event Center last Saturday afternoon. Brown led for the majority of the game, but Pitt junior Abby Dowd drained a three pointer with less than 10 seconds remaining in the game to earn the win.
Brown shot 33 percent from the field and was able to pull down 46 rebounds. Leading the team's scoring was junior Lauren Clarke (Colts Neck, NJ), who tied her season-high 20 points, and captain Caroline King (Valencia, PA) pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds.
Freshman Jordin Alexander (Fishers, Ind.), Clarke, and senior Sheila Dixon (Schenectady, NY) each made the Ivy League Honor Roll for their performances at last week's games against URI and Pitt. Brown currently sits in fourth in the League standings.
Bryant will be coming off of a 10-day break from competition after last competing on the 18th at Youngstown State in Ohio. Headed by Coach Mary Burke, the Bulldogs fell to the Penguins 75-59. Junior Naana Ankoma-Mensa grabbed a team-high 14 points and Courtney Schissler added 12 more. The Bulldogs are averaging 54 points a game and 41 rebounds.
Following Wednesday's game, the Bears will then host Rider, Quinnipiac and New Hampshire for the Brown Basketball Classic. The Bears will tip-off against Rider at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, and will then face either Quinnipiac or New Hampshire at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2.
