Passafuime Leads Bears to Fourth Straight Win with 66-45 Victory over Dominican

San Rafael, CA- Senior co-captain Hannah Passafuime (Soquel, CA) led the Brown women's basketball team with 17 points and six rebounds en route to a 66-45 victory over Dominican (CA) on Thursday evening at the Conlan Center. The Bears have won their last six of seven games, including the last four consecutive, to improve to 7-4 overall on the season. The loss dropped Dominican (CA) to 1-9 on the year.

Junior guard/forward Lindsay Nickel (Los Altos, CA) helped the Bears offense today with 14 points going 6-of-10 from the floor, and senior co-captain Aileen Daniels (Waldwick, NJ) pitched in with 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.

Dominican's Kayla Valentine led the Penguins with 17 points on a 6-of-9 performance from the field, and Ariana Flynn added eight points and three rebounds.

Brown shot 50 percent from the field in the first half to outscore Dominican 41-15 on the help of Passafuime's 10 first-half points. The Bears jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first three minutes of the game before the Penguins' Kayla Valentine would hit a jumper to get Dominican on the scoreboard.

The Bears were ahead 30-15 with 4:25 left in the first half and finished the stanza on an 11-0 run to head into the locker room at half with a 26 point lead.

Brown built its largest lead of the night, 57-24, after a jumper by Nickel put the Bears ahead by 33 just eight minutes into the second half. Dominican, who outscored the Bears 30-25 in the second half, was able to cut its deficit to 21 after a jumper y Natalie Bents with 54 seconds left in the game, and that was as close as the Penguins would come as the Bears earned the 66-45 win at the Conlan Center.

The Bears ended the night shooting 39 percent from the field and went 6-for-14 from beyond the arc. Dominican shot just 27 percent in the first and came back to shoot 43 percent in the second. Brown dominated on the boards, out-rebounding the Penguins 49-26 and forced Dominican into 30 turnovers in the game
