Bears Host University of Vermont Wednesday at 5pm

Providence, RI- The Brown women's basketball team (5-4) will look to extend its win streak to three as it hosts the University of Vermont (6-2) Wednesday, December 7,  at 5 p.m. at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

In conjunction with Toys for Toys, Brown fans that bring in toys will receive a voucher redeemable for a ticket to a home game good for any contest remaining this season. Boxes for toys will be located in the lobby of the Pizzitola Sports Center. Also, fans not in attendance can watch the game, for a fee, via America ONE, or listen live on Brownbears.com. Live Stats will also be provided.

Junior guard Sheila Dixon (Schenectady, NY) erupted for a career-high 26 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Brown women's basketball team to a 70-57 victory over the visiting Providence College Friars on Sunday afternoon during the Brown BEAR Basketball Classic. Dixon was named the Tournament MVP for her performance against the Friars, as well for her 16-point and five rebound performance during Brown's win over Rhode Island the day before. Dixon was named the Ivy League Player of the Week, and is currently the Bears' leading scorer and rebounder with 15.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.

Vermont is in the midst of an eight-game road swing and is coming off a 78-62 loss at Northeastern last Thursday night. The Catamounts, 6-2 overall and 2-2 in its last four games, are being led by Lauren Buschmann's 14.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. Also adding to the scoring is Kayla Burchill with 10 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Vermont is averaging 65.6 points per game, and is giving up just 59.1 to its opponents. The Catamounts are shooting 35.7 percent from the field, 32 percent from beyond the arc, and 67 from the free throw line.

The Bears and Catamounts will be meeting for the fourth time, as Vermont leads the all-time series, 3-0. Vermont is 2-0 when playing at the Pizzitola Sport Center, with its last victory at the Pizzitola coming on December 8, 2002. Vermont defeated the Bears, 72-47. The two teams last met in Vermont when the Bears competing in the TD Banknorth Classic Nov. 17-18 where the Bears fell 69-38 to the Catamounts.
