Providence, RI- The Brown University women's basketball team hosts the University at Albany tomorrow at the Pizzitola Sports Center in its second doubleheader with the men's basketball team. The Brown men will tip-off against Hartford at 5 p.m., while the women will take the floor at 7:30 p.m. against the Great Danes.
The Bears are searching for their first win of the 2011-12 season after falling to New Hampshire in their season opener 62-57, and then coming up short 70-66 at NJIT last Sunday afternoon. Junior guard Sheila Dixon (Schenectady, NY) leads the offense with 18 points and 8.5 rebounds, while senior co-captain Hannah Passafuime (Soquel, CA) is adding 17.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
Albany arrives in Providence with a 2-1 record and earned two straight wins against Fordham and LaSalle, but is coming off an 82-60 loss to Iowa. Julie Forster leads the Great Danes with 18.3 points per game and 12.7 rebounds per game, while Ebone Henry is adding 15 points and 3.3 rebounds.
Last season the Great Danes ended the season 16-13 overall with a 9-7 record in the America East. The Bears and Great Danes have matched up three times, with Albany leading the all-time series 3-0.
