PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown University men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Van Cortlandt Park on Friday, Oct. 27 for the 2017 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. The women's race (6K) will start at 11 a.m. followed by the men's race (8K) at noon.
The men's team placed seventh at the 2016 Championships, while Penn captured the Ivy title. Brown most recently took 21st out of 41 schools at the highly competitive Pre-National Invitational, led by Michael Wyman, who placed 79th overall. Matt Mahoney has been another top runner for the Bears this season, highlighted by an eighth-place finish at the Boston College Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown, when completed the 8-kilometer course at 24:28. The Bears finished fourth overall as a team at that meet, en route to a fourth-place showing in the USTFCCCA Regional Rankings.
The women's side captured fourth place at Heps last season, while Harvard claimed the team championship. Natalie Schudrowitz earned Second Team All-Ivy accolades for the second straight season as she finished 10th overall. Megan Ratcliffe paced the Bears at the Pre-National Invite, while Carleen Jeffers was second on the team at that meet and previously led the Bears at the Battle in Beantown, finishing 19th overall out of 189 runners.
After Heps, the Bears return to action on Friday, Nov. 10 for the NCAA Northeast Regional in Buffalo, N.Y.
