Men’s Cross Country Ranked Fourth in Regional Poll

Regional Rankings Summary

NEW ORLEANS – After a pair of impressive meets to start the season, the Brown men's cross country team is ranked fourth in the latest Northeast Regional Rankings, recently announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The men's team moved up one spot to fourth after an idle week, trailing only Syracuse, Columbia and Iona, while the women's team remained at eighth place in the current Northeast poll.

The men's side most recently placed fourth out of 18 teams at the Boston College Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown, finishing behind only nationally ranked No. 3 Syracuse, No. 27 Illinois and No. 21 Indiana. Matt Mahoney paced the Bears with an eighth-place finish as he completed the 8-kilometer course at 24:28, en route to HepsXC Male Athlete of the Week honors.

Next up, the Bears will host the Rothenberg Run on Friday, Oct. 13 and then travel to the Pre-National Invitational in Louisville on Saturday (10/14).
