BRONX, N.Y. – Junior Mark McGurrin (Manlius, N.Y.) posted a top-20 finish to lead the Brown University men's cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the Iona Meet of Champions Saturday morning at Van Cortlandt Park.
The Bears recorded 195 points to claim sixth out of 20 teams, finishing only behind Iona (37), Yale (97), Navy (103), St. Joseph's (113) and Army (117).
McGurrin finished the 8-kilometer course in a time of 26:05, while fellow junior Jordan Mann (St. Louis, Mo.) claimed 26th-place as he crossed the finish line in a time of 26:21.
Freshman Stephen Bourguet (Manhasset, N.Y.), who was the team's top finisher at the Dartmouth Invite last weekend, placed 38th in a time of 26:33. Senior Kyler Evitt (Somerville, Mass.) and sophomore Will Sheeran (Bellevue, Wash.) finished 52nd and 61st, respectively, in times of 26:49 and 26:58 to round out the Brown scorers.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, Oct. 5 when they take part in the Paul Short Invitational on the campus of Lehigh University.
