HANOVER, N.H. – Freshman Stephen Bourguet (Manhasset, N.Y.) placed 20th overall as the Brown men's cross county team finished third at the Dartmouth Invitational Saturday morning at the Hanover Country Club.
The Bears finished with 90 points to finish behind Syracuse (24) and Dartmouth (34), but ahead of Keene State (108) and Bentley (15).
"Today was a nice opportunity for our younger athletes to gain experience," said head coach Tim Springfield. "Overall, I was happy with how they responded. We have a lot of work to do, but it was a solid opener."
Bourguet was impressive in the first collegiate race of his career as he completed the 8-kilometer course in a time of 25:08.19. Fellow rookie Tucker Hamilton (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished close behind in 23rd with a time of 25:16.88.
Junior Ben Halpin (Danvers, Mass.) also placed inside the top-25 as he crossed the finish line in a time of 25:19.30. Junior Evan Roelke (Basking Ridge, N.J.) and freshman Luke Muzikowski placed 31st and 33rd, respectively, in times of 25:39.30 and 25:40.83 to round out the scorers. Freshman Simon Belete finished right behind Muzikowski to take 34th in a time of 25:42.48.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, Sept. 24 when they participate at the Iona Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park.
