Conor Grogan Leads Brown Men’s XC at Ivy League Heptagonal Championship

Princeton, N.J. – Senior Conor Grogan (Hudson, MA) led the Brown men's cross country team with a 31st place finish with a 24:38.5 on the 8-kilomter course at Princeton's Windsor Fields during the 2012 Ivy League Cross Country Championships. The Bears finished in eighth place, as Princeton captured the team title with 26 points. For complete results, click here.

"This was obviously a very disappointing performance for our team," said Interim Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Tim Springfield.  "We've struggled all season to translate our fitness level into strong racing, and we struggled with that again today.  I don't think that today's race is an accurate measure of our team's strength, but it is the result we have to live with."

Close behind was junior Brendan Boyle and senior Austin Snyder (Berkeley, CA) who came in 43rd and 45th places, respectively. Boyle crossed the finish line with a 24:59.0 and Snyder recorded a 25:01.0.

Ned Willig (Phoenixville, PA) and Mark McGurrin (Manlius, NY) teamed up were the Bears' next two competitors to finish. Willig earned a 25:20.1 for 51st place and McGurrin posted a time of 25:31.3 for 53rd.

Also competing for Brown were Jeff Bush (Westborough, MA) and Kevin Cooper (Waterford, IRL). Bush was 54th overall with a 25:40.0 and Cooper came in 56th with 25:54.5.
