Men's Cross Country Earns Rothenberg Invitational

Warwick, RI- Brown hosted five teams on Friday afternoon at the Rothenberg Cross Country Invitational at Goddard State Park. Dartmouth, UMass Amherst, Boston College, and Rhode Island University each brought men for the eight-kilometer competition across the flat and slightly rain-slicked course. Brown won the team competition with 33 points followed by UMass Amherst.

In front for the Bears, freshman Will Sheeran (Bellevue, WA) finished in second place overall with a time of 25:40, just behind Dartmouth winner Anthony Anzvino who finished in 25:37. Also in the front pack was sophomore Mark McGurrin (Manlius, NY) finishing in 3rd place overall in 25:44.

Kyler Evitt (Somerville, MA), Ned Willig (Phoenixville, PA), and Ben Stephenson (Austin, TX) brought in the next wave of Bears finishers and comprised the remaining scorers. Evitt and Willig crossed in 8th and 9th places respectively in 25:56 and 25:57. Stephenson broke the 26 minute mark as well, finishing in 11th place.

Other racers for Brown included sophomore Jordan Mann (St. Louis, MO), freshman Jerry Melnyk (Little Rock, AR), sophomore Evan Roelke (Basking Ridge, NJ), and junior Drew Perilli (Lockport, NY).

The Rothenberg Run was the final competition before the Bears travel to Princeton next week for the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship.
