Bears Send Two Grapplers to Compete in NCAA Tournament

At 149, Dies will be wrestling freshman Matt Kocher (29-11), from Pittsburgh, in the first round. The winner will then face sophomore Ty Eustice (23-8), from Iowa, who had a bye in the first round. After taking the 2002-2003 year off from school, Dies returned to Brown for his final year of collegiate wrestling. Dies led the squad with top finishes in the Bearcat Open, Keystone Classic and Las Vegas open. He also recorded a 28-9 record this season.
At 184, Ciarcia earned a first round bye and will be meeting sophomore Dan Pitsch (19-10), of Oregon State, in round two. Last season Ciarcia was an All-Ivy Honorable Mention honoree as well as being named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Academic Second team. He was also a Verizon Academic All-America District I Team second team selection. Ciarcia was also an NCAA Qualifier, after placing fourth at Easterns and finishing the year with a 24-11 overall record.
