PROVIDENCE, RI - The Brown wrestling team wrapped up its regular season in style with a 21-14 victory over the Harvard Crimson at the Pizzitola Sports Center on Saturday afternoon.
Brown (12-6, 3-2 Ivy) trailed 3-0 after the first bout of the day at 165, but rallied to win the next five in a row to take control of the match with a commanding 17-3 lead. That impressive stretch included victories from sophomore Adam Santee (Perry, OH) by decision at 174, senior Karl Rittger (Glen Gardiner, NJ) by decision at 184, sophomore Nick Ciarcia (Berlin, CT) by decision at 197, senior Bronson Lingamfelter (Boxborough, MA) by major decision in heavyweight action, and junior Ryan Gill (Bromall, PA) by major decision at 125.
Junior Clint Frease (Clearwater, FL) came through with a dominating 13-3 major decision at 141 to put the Bears in front 21-6 with just two matches remaining. Brown suffered two defeats to Harvard (6-7, 2-3 Ivy) by major decision in the final two bouts of the day, but managed to hang on for a hard-fought 21-14 victory.
The Bears will be back in action for the EIWA Tournament at Lehigh on March 9.
