The Brown men's wrestling team defeated Harvard 25-9 in their last match of the season. The Bears took an early lead over the Crimson, winning the first two matches at 125 and 133. After two tough losses at the 141 and 149 spots, Brown won the next five matches to edge out Harvard.
Wrestling at 125, sophomore Greg Pace (Bethel, CT) took his match 13-4. In the next match at 133, Dan Appello (Roselle Park, NJ) fought his match to the wire, winning 7-5 with a takedown with just 15 seconds remaining on the clock. This put the Bears at a 7-0 advantage over the Crimson.
Harvard came back to win the next two matches at 141 and 149 to close Brown's lead to 7-6. However, the Bears came back to win the next five matches to secure the victory.
At 157, sophomore Mike Savino (Lawrenceville, NJ) won his match 7-6. At 165, senior Sean Jenkins (Schnecksville, PA) fought through an injury to defeat his opponent 9-5.
In the 174 spot, senior Adam Santee (Perry, OH) took his challenger into overtime and secured the win 12-7. The Bears won the following match by forfeit at 184.
In Brown's last victory of the day, senior Nick Ciarcia (Berlin, CT) also won a close match in overtime 4-3.
The Bears will return to the mats when they travel to Philadelphia, PA to compete in the EIWA's.
