Brown Grapplers Take Down Columbia 24-16

NEW YORK, NY - The Brown wrestling team earned its second Ivy League victory of the season with a 24-16 victory over the Columbia Lions on Saturday.
With three matches to go, the Bears held a slim 15-13 advantage over the Lions. However, senior Karl Rittger (Glen Gardner, NJ) defeated Columbia's Mike Gerstl at 197 with a dramatic two-point takedown 27 seconds into overtime to earn a 3-1 victory.
Senior heavyweight Bronson Lingamfelter (Boxborough, MA) then put the contest out of reach when he pinned Bart Seeman at 2:22 to put the Bears in front 24-12.
Other winners for Brown included junior Clint Frease (Clearwater, FL) by default at 141, junior David Dies (Akron, OH) by technical fall at 149, and junior Chris Ayers (Newton, NJ) by major decision at 174.
The Bears now stand at 11-6 overall and 2-2 in the Ivy League. Brown will return to action on Saturday, February 23 against Harvard in a noon match at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
