Brown Wrestlers Fall to Cornell 23-14

ITHACA, NY - The Brown wrestling team suffered a 23-14 defeat at the hands of the Cornell Big Red on Friday afternoon.

After dropping the first three matches, the Bears trailed 11-0, but managed to win four of the next six to pull within five points of the Big Red at 19-14 win one bout to go. Needing a pin to earn the victory, senior Jesse Savage (Millsboro, DE) lost a 15-4 major decision to Cornell's Gabe Webster at 157 as Cornell held on for the win.

Winners for Brown (10-6, 1-2 Ivy) included sophomore Nick Ciarcia (Berlin, CT) by a 3-1 decision in sudden death at 197, senior Bronson Lingamfelter (Boxborough, MA) by 9-0 major decision in heavyweight action, junior Clint Frease (Clearwater, FL) by 9-1 major decision at 141, and junior Jason Mercado (Pitman, NJ) by 7-5 decision at 149.
