Grapplers Take Down Delaware State, 32-6

Providence, RI - The Brown wrestling team improved to 5-7 on the year with a 32-6 win over Delaware State on Saturday morning at the Pizzitola Center. The Bears took five of the six bouts that took place while also 12 points off two forfeits.

Traveling with a limited squad, Delaware State forfeited the first two bouts at 125 lbs. and 133 lbs. Freshman John Triggas then earned an 8-3 decision over Jerry Davis at 141 lbs. while senior Sean Cully won by injury default at 149 lbs.

With no match taking place at 157 lbs., junior Shawn Kitchner continued his winning ways with a 20-10 major decision at 165 lbs. over Ryan Gibbons. At 184 lbs., Delaware State won by injury default while sophomore Leo Saniuk took a 9-1 major decision over Shawn Nowrey at 197 lbs. In the final bout of the day, freshman Zach Zdrada took an 8-4 decision over Steven Billbrough.

Brown will wrestle Ivy foe Princeton at 2 p.m. today.
