PROVIDENCE, RI -- The Brown wrestling team dropped a 20-14 decision to Lehigh at the Pizzitola Sports Center on Sunday evening.
Trailing 3-0, senior Bronson Lingamfelter (Boxborough, MA) earned a 6-1 decision in heavyweight action to pull the Bears even at 3-3. After dropping the 125-pound match, the Bears picked up three straight wins to jump out in front 14-7. Earning victories for Brown were juniors Rob Apgar (Easton, PA) (133), Clint Frease (Clearwater, FL) (141), and Jason Mercado (Pitman, NJ) (149).
Brown (7-4) suffered defeats in each of the next three matches before sophomore Nick Ciarcia (Berlin, CT) was edged in a hard-fought 12-9 decision at 184 that gave Lehigh (9-5) the victory.
The Bears will be back in action on Saturday, February 2 when they host Drexel and Boston College at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Brown will wrestle Drexel at 10:00 a.m. followed by Boston College at 2:00 p.m.
