Mike Burch is in his second stint as an assistant coach at Brown, this one beginning with the 2001-2002 season. Although he stepped down as Head Coach Dave Amato's first assistant following the 2006-07 season, Burch remains with the team as a volunteer assistant.

Burch had also worked on Head Coach Dave Amato's staff from 1992-95. A 1985 graduate of Cal Sate Bakersfield, Burch has a decorated past in the sport of wrestling both as a coach and a competitor.

Before returning to Brown in 2001, Burch was the head coach at the University of California, Davis. In the 2000-2001 season at UC-Davis, Burch compiled the first winning season the prgram had in over 25 years, and was named the men's coach of the year at the school. He also coached four national qualifiers.

As a wrestler at Cal State-Bakersfield, he was named a Freshman All-American and was a four-year varsity starter on a team that won four consecutive Division II national titles.

Burch has also held assistant coaching positions at Diablo Valley Community College and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. In 1988, Burch was the runner-up in the Olympic Trial Qualifier for the western region.
