PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown wrestling resumes dual meet action this Saturday when the Bears take on Bucknell and Clarion beginning at 11 a.m.

BERNSTEIN RANKED NO. 9 AT 184
Junior captain Ophir Bernstein (Allen, Texas) ranks ninth in the 184-pound weight class according to the latest Amateur Wrestling News and Wrestling Insider Newsmagazine polls. Bernstein also stands 13th in the most recent InterMat rankings after going 3-0 with a fall and two major decisions at the Boston University Duals last Saturday.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Bucknell is 3-6 overall and 1-0 in EIWA competition after falling to Bloomsburg (24-11) and the Citadel (19-18) and defeating George Mason (27-9) at the Virginia Duals last Friday. Sophomore Paul Petrov went 3-0 at 125 to take hold of the team lead with 17 wins on the season. Heavyweight Joe Stolfi earned two wins at the Virginia Duals and ranks 19th in the nation according to the AWN poll.
Clarion enters the dual meet with a 5-9 overall record. The Golden Eagles, who have six freshmen in their lineup, opened the season with a 2-2 mark at the Eastern Michigan and opened the home dual season on Nov. 22 with a 30-12 loss to Rutgers. At the Journeyman Northeast Duals, Clarion lost a 21-13 decision to No. 11 Virginia and rebounded for wins against Columbia (20-16) and Buffalo (34-7). Clarion was fourth at the PSAC Championships, while losing the EWL opener to Edinboro (40-3). Last Sunday, Clarion was 1-3 at the Pitt duals, defeating Davidson 31-15 and losing to North Carolina State (30-6), Duke (28-9) and North Carolina (32-4). Freshman Justin Arthur leads the team in wins with an 18-7 record in the 141-pound weight class.
EIWA CHAMPIONSHIP TICKETS ON SALE
The 2014 EIWA Wrestling Championships will take place March 8-9 at The Palestra on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. The two-day qualifying tournament for the 2014 NCAA Championships in Oklahoma City will be the largest EIWA Championships ever held, with 18 programs looking to lock up berths to the national tournament.

LAST TIME OUT
The Bears opened dual meet season at the Boston University Duals on Sunday, falling to Army (28-12), Binghamton (23-17) and American (31-13) at Case Gym. Junior captain Ophir Bernstein (Allen, Texas) went undefeated to lead Brown, while four wrestlers picked up multiple victories on the day.
Bernstein earned back-to-back major decisions against Army and Binghamton before pinning American's Jason Grimes in 2:13 to seal a 3-0 performance in the 184-pound weight class. Sophomore Anthony Finocchiaro (Canastota, N.Y.) grabbed two major decisions at 133, while senior Philip Marano (Northampton, Pa.) and junior Ricky McDonald (Carson City, Nev.) each prevailed twice at 165 and 174, respectively.
Other Brown victors included senior captain Cortlandt Choate (Orwigsburg, Pa.) and freshman Justin Staudenmayer (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.). Choate recorded a 13-5 major decision against Mark Marchetti of Army at 149 and Staudenmayer defeated Binghamton's Colton Perry by a 6-1 score at 157.
EIGHT WRESTLERS HEAD TO MILLERSVILLE ON SUNDAY
Brown will send eight wrestlers, six attached and two unattached, to the "Shorty" Hitchcock Memorial Tournament at Millersville University on Sunday. The following grapplers will represent the Bears at the open event: Jack Twomey-Kozak (Hillsborough, N.C.), Steven Galiardo (Chicago, Ill.), William McDonald (Carson City, Nev.), Taylor Grenawalt (East Lansing, Mich.), L.J. Remillard (Honolulu, Hawaii) and Galloway Thurston (St. Ignace, Mich.).
Brown heads to No. 6 Cornell on Friday, Jan. 24, and Sacred Heart on Saturday, Jan. 25, in dual meet action.
