Bernstein Tabbed as One of the Top Rookie Wrestlers by Amateur Wrestling News

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The honors and accolades continue to pile up for freshman wrestler Ophir Bernstein (Allen, Texas). After qualifying for the NCAA Championship after tallying 27 regular season wins, the rookie was named Brown University's Most Outstanding First-Year Male Student-Athlete. Bernstein has now been honored by Amateur Wrestling News as one of the top rookies in the county.

Bernstein was ranked as the fourth-best freshman at the 187-pount weight class, and registered more victories than the three wrestlers placed ahead of him; Braden Atwood of Purdue, Victor Avery of Edinboro and Ryan Garringer of Ohio. All four student-athletes qualified for the NCAA Championships.

Brown's standout rookie boasted the third-most victories of any top-honored rookie in the 174, 184 and 197 pound weight classes. Bernstein finished the season with a 27-15 overall record.
