Brown Competes at 15th Annual Lone Star Duals

Dallas, Texas – Brown competed at the 15th annual Lone Star Duals on Saturday, the premier wrestling event in the state of Texas. The Bears took on some tough competition and despite several strong individual performances, Bruno fell to Air Force (33-16), Appalachian State (41-4) and UT-Chattanooga (37- 3).

Sophomore Billy Watterson (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) was victorious against Air Force's Greg Rinker at 125-pounds, winning 15-2. Watterson also won against UT-Chattanooga, downing Blake Thomas, 4-1.

Freshman Zachary Tanenbaum (Leawood, Kan.) defeated Air Force's Carter McElhany, 3-1, at the 141-pound weight class.

Senior Jeff Lemmer (Milwaukee, Wis.) got Brown's third win against Air Force, pinning Colby Kluesner in 5:59 at 165.

At 174, Dave Foxen (Garden City, N.Y.) made it two wins in a row by Brown seniors as he edged Clayton Gable of Air Force, 4-3

Sophomore Giuseppi Lanzi (Amsterdam, N.Y.) picked up the Bears' lone win against Appalachian State, 13-1 at 157 against Chip Powell.

The Bears return to the mat on January 21, when they travel to take on Ivy League-rival Cornell at 1 p.m.
