Bears Take on Impressive Field at Binghamton Open

Binghamton, N.Y. – The Brown wrestling team opened the 2010-11 season yesterday and took on an imposing field of over 20 teams at the Binghamton Open. The Bears had 20 wrestlers in matches at the tournament. The non-scoring event featured more than 300 wrestlers.

Three wrestlers made it deep into the bracket of their respective weight classes. Sophomore Cortlandt Choate (Orwigsburg, Pa.), freshman Giuseppi Lanzi (Amsterdam, N.Y.) and junior Grant Overcashier (Goodrich, Mich.) all made it to within one match of placing at the event. Choate, Lanzi and Overcashier competed at the 133, 157 and 141 weight class, respectively.

The Bears take part in their second tournament of the season next weekend on Nov. 21 at the Keystone Classic in Philadelphia, Pa.
