Wrestling Falls to Bucknell by 28-13 Margin
Lewisburg, PA - The Bears lost a tough match to EIWA foe Bucknell on Thursday night, as the Bison defended their home gym with a 28-13 win, taking seven of ten events. Brown was led by senior Greg Einfrank, who won a major decision at 125, giving the Bears an early lead and thoughts of an upset. However, the Bison, with two nationally ranked wrestlers, proved too strong for Bruno. With the loss, Brown falls to 2-6 overall, with a 1-2 record in EIWA bouts, while Bucknell improves to 7-5 on the season, including 4-0 in the league.
Einfrank led off the match at 125, squaring off against Bucknell's Derrik Russell. Wrestling one of his best all around matches of the season, Einfrank denied Russell even a single point, winning an 8-0 major decision and picking up four early points for the Bears. At 133, Nick Mazza then followed with a win by forfeit.
After Bucknell grabbed the next three classes to pull into a tie with the Bears at 10 apiece, Jeff Lemmer regained some momentum for the Bears with a win at 165. Lemmer and Corey Lear of the Bison went back and forth throughout, but Lemmer came away with an exciting 9-6 victory, giving Brown the lead once again. Over the final four weight classes though, Bucknell was able to come up with wins in each, pulling away to take the 28-13 win.
The Bears will be back in action on Saturday, January 30, when they open their home schedule against Army at the Pizzitola Center.
