Providence, RI - Seniors Mike Gartner (San Jose, CA) and Grant LeBeau (San Diego, CA) were named to the 2008 All-East after the 2008 Eastern Championship hosted by Navy on Nov. 21-23. Gartner received First Team honors, while LeBeau was named to the Second Team. The No. 17 men's water polo team defeated Johns Hopkins, 12-6, in the first round of competition, but fell to Princeton University, 14-9, in the Eastern Championship semifinals.
Gartner, a two-time Honorable Mention Division I All-American and a four-time First Team All-North selection, joined the select group as he collected his fourth All-Tournament honor after receiving First Team in 2007 and 2005, and second team honors in 2006. He ranks second on the team in scoring with 58 goals, and leads the Bears in ejections drawn with 114.
LeBeau, a First Team All-North selection, has been named to the Second Team All-East. He leads Bruno's offense with 59 goals on the year, and ranks second on the squad in assists with 39.
The All-East teams are selected by the participating head coaches at the Eastern Championship, and is the only award handed out by the Collegiate Water Polo Association that encompasses teams in both the Northern and Southern Division.
