Oct. 14, 2008

Providence, RI - Brown men's water polo goalkeeper Max Lubin (Beverly Hills, CA) made seven saves with two steals in victories over Queens College and Iona College to earn the CWPA Northern Division Rookie of the Week award in helping the Bears move to 9-5 on the year and 6-0 in the CWPA.

In a 13-12 comeback victory at Iona in which the Bears rallied from a 9-6 halftime deficit, Lubin played the shallow end goal, including the critical fourth quarter, and picked up three saves, while junior goalkeeper Kent Holland (Orinda, CA) handled deep water responsibilities and also tallied three saves.

Against Queens in a 14-11 victory, Lubin and Holland both registered four saves as Brown clinched the No. 1 seed for the Northern Division Championship, and has a chance to finish with a perfect 7-0 Northern Division record for the first time in program history.

The Bears are back in action tonight, when they take on the Connecticut College Camels at 8:00 p.m. at Wheaton College in Norton, MA.
