Brown Water Polo To Play Home Game At Wheaton on Oct. 26

Sept. 27, 2007
Providence, RI - Brown Head Water Polo Coach Felix Mercado has announced that the men's water polo team, currently ranked 20th in the country, will play a home game at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., on Friday, October 26, at 8:30 against Mercyhurst. The Bears have been using Wheaton's Balfour Natatorium as a practice facility this fall while construction is completed on a temporary pool.
"I am extremely excited about this and I am also very happy we will be able to give our seniors a Senior Night," Mercado said. "We're very thankful to the staff at Wheaton College for giving us this opportunity."
With the Smith Swim Center closed permanently and the construction of the temporary pool not to be completed until January, Brown had no home games scheduled for the fall, instead playing CWPA games that would have been at home at either MIT or Harvard. Since the closing of the swim center, the men's and women's teams have primarily practiced at Wheaton, located about 25 miles away from Providence.
Future games may be scheduled at Wheaton for both the men's and women's teams.
