Mike Gartner Named CWPA Northern Division Player of the Week

Providence, RI - Brown junior two-meter forward Mike Gartner (San Jose, CA) was named the Collegiate Water Polo Association's Northern Division Player of the Week on Tuesday. Gartner had team highs with 12 goals and eight drawn ejections this past weekend in five games at the MIT Invitational.
Gartner's top game came against UC Santa Cruz, the defending Division III National Champion which began the season ranked 20th in the Top 20 poll. Gartner notched six goals , also chipping in an assist, one drawn ejection, and one block. In addition to his 12 goals and eight ejections drawn, Gartner finished the weekend with three assists, two blocks, and two steals. In Brown's two official contests against Santa Cruz and Washington & Jefferson, Gartner scored eight goals, with two assists, three ejections drawn, one steal and two blocks.
The Brown men's water polo team (2-0) will continue play on Saturday at Northern Division foes St. Francis and Queens.
