Brown Announces 2007 Men's Water Polo Schedule

Providence, RI - With a new head coach in place and its student-athletes arriving on campus, the Brown men's water polo team is ready to begin its season. The Bears begin play on Sept. 8, when they travel up to Cambridge for the two-day MIT Invitational.
After getting their feet wet against two varsity teams in Washington & Jefferson and #20 UC Santa Cruz, as well as three club teams including Yale, the Bears will jump right into Northern Division play. Brown opens its Northern slate with a doubleheader against 14th-ranked St. Francis, the defending division champion, and Queens on Sept. 15.
Two weeks later, Bruno travels to Connecticut College for another Northern Division tilt. That weekend, the team travels to Bucknell for the ECAC Championship, where it will face the host Bison, ranked 18th in the preseason top 25, in the first round. Also competing in the tournament will be ranked teams St. Francis, #11 Navy, and #15 Princeton.
One week later will begin Brown's yearly California trip. After a warm-up against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, the Bears will compete in the Claremont Convergence. They will follow that with two games against their highest-ranked competition of the season, as they square off with #3 UCLA at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center and #9 Long Beach State.
Bruno jumps right back into its Northern Division schedule with games against MIT, Fordham, and Iona after returning from the West Coast. After a weekend of five games at Navy, the Bears finish the regular season with a game against rival Harvard on Oct. 25.
The entire Northern Division postseason will be held in Cambridge this year, as MIT hosts the Northern Division Championship from Nov. 3-4 and Harvard hosts the Eastern Championship two weeks later from Nov. 16-18.
