Mercado Appointed to NCAA Men's Water Polo Committee

Providence, RI - Brown University Head Water Polo Coach Felix Mercado has been appointed to the NCAA Men's Water Polo Committee. Mercado's term of service on the committee will commence on Sept. 1, 2008, and run through Sept. 1, 2012.

"I feel honored to serve on this committee," Mercado said. "I look forward to doing what I can to help the sport of water polo grow and thrive."

The water polo committee oversees the conduct of the NCAA Championship and playing rules. The six-member panel is made up of three representatives from Division I -- one from each subdivision -- one from Division II, one from Division III and one at-large member.

In his first season at Brown, Mercado was named the CWPA Northern Division Coach of the Year this fall after guiding the Brown men's team to a 20-11 record and #20 ranking. It was his second consecutive year receiving the award, having won it as the head coach at MIT the previous season.
