Men's Water Polo Qualifiers for Eastern Championship

Cambridge, MA - The #17 Brown University men's water polo team cruised to a 12-8 victory over Connecticut College and an 11-4 win over M.I.T. at the Northern Division Championships hosted by MIT. The wins qualified the Bears for the Eastern Championships at the United States Naval Academy from Nov. 21-23.
The No.1 seeded Bears used a 6-1 first quarter lead to cruise past the Connecticut College Camels on Saturday afternoon to earn a spot in the semi finals. Leading Bruno's offensive attack was senior Mike Gartner (San Jose, CA), freshman Marcus Gartner (San Jose, CA), freshman Robbie Yass (Haverford, PA), senior Nico Fort (Miami, FL) and sophomore Corey Schwartz (Los Angeles, CA) each with two goals.
After scoring six in the first quarter, Bruno tallied two in the second, third and fourth quarter en route to its 12-8 win. Freshman Max Lubin (Beverly Hills, CA) played stellar in goal, picking up 11 saves.
In the semi-finals, Brown used stifling defense and a huge third quarter to secure an 11-4 win over MIT. The Bears held a 4-2 lead heading into the half, and then exploded for five in the third to put the Engineers out of reach. Sophomore Gordon (Carlsbad, CA) led Brown's attack with five goals, followed by Mike Gartner and senior Grant LeBeau (San Diego, CA) each with two. Junior Kent Holland (Orinda, CA) was in net, and tallied 10 saves on the night.
