Providence, RI - The No. 18 ranked Brown men's water polo team dropped two games on Sunday afternoon, the first to #4 UCLA (14-2), followed by a 13-9 loss to #9 UC Irvine.
Senior Hank Weintraub (Los Angeles, CA) scored three goals and senior Grant LeBeau (San Diego, CA) and sophomore Gordon Hood (Carlsbad, CA) scored a pair of goals apiece as the Anteaters defeated the Bears 13-9.
UC Irvine jumped on the Bears early, jumping out to a 6-1 lead after the first eight minutes of play. They narrowed the gap to 11-8 when Hood converted a power-play goal with 4:07 left in the game, but two goals by Brandon Johnson and James Frank increased the Anteaters' lead to five. LeBeau was able to hit his second penalty shot of the game with just 49 seconds remaining in the game, as the Bears fell 13-9.
The UCLA Bruins led from the start in game two, taking an 8-1 lead at the half. Sophomore Brandon Yoshimura (Haverford, PA) notched Brown's first goal with 4:50 to play in the opening frame.
