Water Polo Downs Connecticut College, 17-7

Norton, MA - The Brown men's water polo team took down Connecticut College, 17-7, to pick up its eighth consecutive win and earn a perfect 7-0 CWPA Northern Division record for the first time in program history. Sophomore Corey Schwartz (Los Angeles, CA), senior Grant LeBeau (San Diego, CA) and freshman Robbie Yass (Haverford, PA) each scored three goals in last night's win.
The Bears got off to a quick start, taking a 6-1 lead after the first eight minutes of play. Brown's defense was tough to crack, allowing the Camels to just one more goal in the second half to increase its lead to 10-2 heading into halftime. Bruno's offense remained stellar throughout the game, as the squad scored four goals in the third and three in the fourth to defeat Connecticut College 17-7.
Besides scoring three goals, Yass also added three assists. Senior Hank Weintraub (Los Angeles, CA) also tallied a goal in the win, while also contributing with three assists. In his collegiate debut, freshman David Douriez (Coral Gables, FL) led Bruno's defense with three steals, while also pitching in with one goal and one assist. Also scoring for Brown was freshman Marcus Gartner (San Jose, CA) and sophomore Brandon Yoshimura (Haverford, PA) with two goals each, as junior Zach Levko (Wildwood, MO), and sophomore Gordon Hood (Carslbad, CA) each added one.
In goal for three quarters was the CWPA's Northern Division Rookie of the Week, Max Lubin (Beverly Hills, CA), who picked up four saves, while junior Kent Holland (Orinda, CA) played one quarter and earned one save.
The Bears are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 18, when they take on Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles at 11:30 a.m. (pt) followed by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at 3:00 p.m. (pt) in Claremont, CA.
