Long Beach, CA - For the fourth time in four days, the #20 Brown men's water polo team (9-7) lost to a ranked opponent on Sunday, closing out its California trip with a 10-4 loss at #7 Long Beach State (11-4). The Bears fell behind 8-2 at the half, and the host 49ers held their lead for the duration.

Over their six-game trip, the Bears went 2-4, with the losses all coming to ranked teams. "After a long weekend where we played 6 games, 4 against ranked teams, I feel that we made some great strides," said Head Coach Felix Mercado. "We made mistakes, but that will only make us better."

Senior Gerrit Adams (Winnetka, IL), juniors Mike Gartner (San Jose, CA) and Grant LeBeau (San Diego, CA), and freshman Gordon Hood (Carlsbad, CA) each had a goal, while sophomore Kent Holland (Orinda, CA) made six saves in the cage.

After returning to the East Coast, Brown will resume play within the CWPA Northern Division. The Bears will play MIT, Fordham, and Iona on consecutive days, beginning Thursday. All three games will be in Cambridge, Mass., with the first two at MIT's Zesiger Center and the third at Harvard's Blodgett Pool.
