#20 Brown Thumps Connecticut College, 21-8

Sept. 28, 2007
New London, CT - While the score may have looked more appropriate for a football game, it was the #20 Brown men's water polo team (6-1, 2-1) that defeated Connecticut College by a 21-8 score on Thursday evening at Lott Natatorium. Eleven Bears scored in the contest, while sophomore goalkeeper Kent Holland (Orinda, CA) stopped 13 shots and allowed just five goals in three quarters of work to pick up the win.
Senior Gerrit Adams (Winnetka, IL) led the way offensively with four goals, with freshman Corey Schwartz (Los Angeles, CA) and junior Grant LeBeau (San Diego, CA) right behind him with three. Senior Alex Robb (Winnetka, IL) and freshmen Gordon Hood (Carlsbad, CA) and Kevin White (Davis, CA) each had a pair of scores, while juniors Jerry Wolf Duff-Sellers (Malibu, CA), Nico Fort (Miami, FL), Mike Gartner (San Jose, CA), and Hank Weintraub (Los Angeles, CA), and sophomore Zach Levko (Wildwood, MO) added one apiece.
Weintraub and Robb were key in setting up the offensive attack, finishing with four and three assists, respectively. White had two steals and drew two ejections, while Fort had three saves and allowed three goals spending the final quarter in the cage.
The Bears will play some of their toughest competition of the season this weekend when they travel to Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium for the ECAC Championship. The fifth-seeded Bears open on Saturday with the host Bison, who are ranked 11th in the country, the highest such ranking for a team outside of California in this week's poll. Also in the field are #13 Navy, #14 St. Francis, #17 Johns Hopkins, #18 Princeton, Harvard, and George Washington.
