#20 Brown Dominant In Sweep of Penn State Behrend, Iona

Sept. 23, 2007
New London, CT - In its first contests after entering the national Top 20, the #20 Brown men's water polo team (5-1) celebrated with a pair of wins at Connecticut College over Penn State Behrend, 16-5, and CWPA Northern Division foe, Iona, 11-6. Junior Hank Weintraub (Los Angeles, CA) paced the offense with eight goals, while the Brown defense played impressively in front of sophomore goalie Kent Holland (Orinda, CA), who had 13 saves on the day.
Weintraub's five scores paced the Bears against Behrend, with junior Mike Gartner (San Jose, CA) right behind with four. Junior Jerry Wolf Duff-Sellers (Malibu, CA) led the defense with five steals, while seven players scored one goal each - senior co-captains Gerrit Adams (Winnetka, IL) and Alex Robb (Winnetka, IL), junior Nico Fort (Miami, FL), sophomore Zach Levko (Wildwood, MO), and freshmen Gordon Hood (Carlsbad, CA), Kevin White (Davis, CA), and Brandon Yoshimura (Haverford, PA). Holland made five saves in the win.
Against Iona, it was Brown's top four scorers who led the way. Juniors Weintraub, Gartner, and Grant LeBeau (San Diego, CA) had three goals apiece, with Adams tossing in a pair. Holland made eight stops behind a great defensive effort by the Bears. The contest will not count towards the CWPA Northern Division standings.
On Thursday, the Bears will return to New London for a Northern Division tilt with the Camels, then will travel to Lewisburg, Pa., for the ECAC Championship at Bucknell that weekend.
