![]() Three Brown student-athletes - two seniors and one junior - have been selected to the District I ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America At-Large teams. On the women's side, two of Brown's three nominated student-athletes were selected with senior field hockey player Katie Auriemma (Medford, NJ) and senior rower Sarah Wu (North Andover, MA) both earning First Team honors. Junior water polo player Mike Gartner (San Jose, CA) earned Second Team All-District honors on the men's team. Auriemma and Wu will now advance to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America national ballot. (MORE) ![]() Felix Mercado Announces Men's Water Polo Class of 2012 Brown Head Water Polo Coach Felix Mercado has announced that six freshmen will join the Bears' men's water polo team in the fall as part of his first recruiting class. With the Bears losing just two seniors, the six new members - Toby Espinosa, Marcus Gartner, Maxwell Lubin, Aristides Nakos, Xander Tabloff, and Robby Yass - will add to the team's depth, with some sure to make an impact right away on a team that finished the season ranked 20th in the CWPA National Poll. (MORE) ![]() Brown Men's Water Polo Honored By ACWPC for Highest Team GPA In the Nation Brown's men's water polo team was named the top All-Academic Team on Monday by the Collegiate Water Polo Association for having the highest cumulative team GPA, coming in at 3.38. In addition, eight of the 11 eligible Bears were honored as members of the 2007 CWPA All-Academic Team, led by senior captain Alex Robb (Winnetka, IL), who was named to the "Outstanding" level for having a GPA above 3.71.
