Men’s Water Polo’s Kirchberg Garners ACWPC All-America Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University men's water polo senior utility Tyler Kirchberg has garnered ACWPC Honorable Mention All-America honors for the first time in his career, the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches announced on Thursday.

A native of Orinda, Calif., Kirchberg earned First Team All-NWPC honors this past fall, and led Brown in points (102), goals (52), assists (50), and field blocks (27), while ranking second on the team in steals (62).

He added 21 ejections drawn and 10 sprints won. Kirchberg won NWPC Player of the Week plaudits on Oct. 25 after scoring 13 goals in four wins at the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament.

Under the guidance of head coach Felix Mercado, Kirchberg helped lead Brown to its eighth straight 20-win season. Kirchberg and the Brown Class of 2018 finished their four-year careers with a 94-35 (.729) overall record, while winning three regular season conference titles and reaching the NCAA tournament in 2014 for the first time since 1990.
