PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A second half surge by the Crimson resulted in a narrow 12-10 loss for the Brown men's water polo team against Collegiate Water Polo Association rival No. 17 Harvard in CWPA Northern Division play at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center on Friday. The Bears drop to 10-9 overall and 5-5 in Division play, while the Crimson improve to 9-8 overall and 7-1 in the North.

Senior James McNamara (Encino, Calif.) had a team-best three goals for Brown, while sophomore Matty Gallas (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and senior Grant Villeneuve (Atherton, Calif.) both scored twice. Senior goalie Walker Shockley (Diamond Bar, Calif.) played the duration in net and made nine saves.

Harvard's two-goal first quarter was equalized by Brown's pair in the second to force a 3-3 tie at halftime. The second half proved the difference, however, as the Crimson notched five goals to the Bears' three in the third frame. Both sides struck for four goals in the final period, allowing the visitors to hold on for the 12-10 victory.

Brown wraps up its regular season home schedule tomorrow with CWPA North tilts against Fordham at 2 p.m. and Iona at 7 p.m.
