  • Brown Men's Water Polo Honored by ACWPC For Excellence in Academics

    Brown Men's Water Polo Honored by ACWPC For Excellence in Academics The ACWPC All-Academic Awards were released last week, and the Brown men's water polo team averaged a 3.370 GPA to rank fifth in the country. Additionally, the team placed 14 student-athletes on the list of honorees, as each was granted with an All-Academic award. California Institute of Technology earned the top ranking with a 3.570, followed by St. Francis (3.520), Stanford (3.450) and Harvard (3.371).

However, due to Hurricane Sandy and the closure of the bridges down to New Jersey, the Tigers were not able to stay and play in the championship game. No champion was crowned.

Senior Svetozar Stefeanovic continued to lead the offense with five goals, while Walker Shockley recorded 18 saves in the cage. The Bears improved to 23-2 on the year after going 5-0 this past weekend.

    Felix Mercado Adds Three to 2012 Men’s Water Polo Roster Providence, RI- Head Water Polo Coach Felix Mercado has recently announced three additions to his 2012 men's water polo roster. Matty Gallas (Los Angeles, CA), Hank Lee (Newport Beach, CA) and Will Klein (Pasadena, CA) will join the 12 returners who finished last season with a 20-11 overall record. The 2012 squad will enjoy competing in the newly constructed Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center, which opened in April.
