Water Polo Defeats MIT 18-8 on Senior Night

Norton, MA – The No. 20 Brown University men's water polo team earned an 18-8 senior night victory against MIT this evening in a match hosted at Balfour Natatorium at Wheaton College. Henry Fox, James McNamara and Svetozar Stefanovic led the scoring with four goals each, while Walker Shockley and Andrew Brown helped lead the defensive effort with five saves apiece. The victory improved Brown to 17-8 overall, while the Engineers dropped to 8-14.

The Bears dominated right from the start and poured in eight goals to MIT's two in the first eight minutes of the game. Brown continued its solid play into the second quarter outscoring the Engineers 6-1 to take a 14-3 lead.

But the Engineers were able to win the third quarter 4-2, but the Bears edged MIT 4-1 in the third to earn the 18-8 win on senior night.

Besides his four goals, McNamara also added four assists and five steals, and Fox added an assist and two steals. Stefanovic handed out an assist, two steals and four ejections drawn as well.

In addition, Dean Serure and Cyrus Mojdehi knocked in two goals, and Michael Hartwick had a goal and an assist and Nick Deaver posted a goal, two assists and five steals.
